Eight DMCA-verified clips, five counties, and a lot of fake footage

CyberLeek GTA 6 Leaks: Verified Map, Gameplay and Systems

ViceCityLore reports only verified information from official sources and credible outlets. We do not host, link to or reproduce leaked footage. Nothing on this page comes from the clips themselves: every claim below is attributed to the outlet that published it.

On August 18, 2026, a person or group calling itself CYBERLEEK began posting Grand Theft Auto VI material online. Eight clips have now been established as genuine, every one of them the subject of a Take-Two copyright claim. The gap between those eight and the flood of material circulating under the same name has become the story.

The eight clips, in order

Eight gameplay clips, all featuring Jason Duval, all of them the subject of a Take-Two DMCA takedown notice. That last part is what separates them from everything else posted under the CYBERLEEK name: a publisher does not file copyright claims over footage of a game it does not own. Where a clip is described below, the description is the one the outlets published, not ours.

One, the basketball clip. Jason drops onto the driveway of a waterside house and shoots hoops. Each basket adds two percent to an on-screen focus meter, and two separate cash totals sit on the HUD at the same time. (Insider Gaming, Dexerto, God is a Geek.)

Two, the highway clip. Jason drives, collides, and ends up in a fistfight with a delivery driver that draws police attention. A vehicle health bar and a fuel gauge are visible, and the fighting draws down a stamina meter. (TechSpot, Dexerto.)

Three, the strip club. Short, and mostly notable for the phone: Jason receives messages on an in-game social network called WhatUp! (Dexerto, Insider Gaming.)

Four, the distribution center. Jason enters, fights guards armed with tasers, and takes a hat off one of them the way Red Dead Redemption 2 let you pick up headwear. Approaching a parked car offers a choice between "Smash window" and "Clone key". The clip ends in a cutscene with Cal Hampton, Jason's conspiracy-minded friend from the trailers. (Kotaku, Insider Gaming, PC Gamer.)

Five, the knife fight. Jason fights a police officer with a knife and steals a motorcycle. Police units carry ID icons on the HUD, and the clip shows a stealth spotting indicator filling as he is noticed. (Dexerto, Insider Gaming.)

Six, the flyover. Jason flies a plane across Vice City and out over the state. Reporting on this clip is where the estimate of a map two to two and a half times the size of GTA V's comes from. (Insider Gaming, PC Gamer.)

Seven, the hypercar clip, at two minutes twenty-five the longest of the eight. Jason wrecks a Truffade Thrax, the series' Bugatti analogue, and forcing the door open drains stamina. It is also the clip in which the leaker shoots the word "LEEK" into a wall. (Kotaku, Forbes, PC Gamer.)

Eight, a second strip club clip with an additional cutscene, plus a Truffade Thrax, a gas station and a store interior. Healing items branded "Zombix" appear on screen. (Insider Gaming, Dexerto.)

The systems the clips show

Everything in this section is visible in the eight clips and reported by the outlets named above. None of it is confirmed by Rockstar, and none of it has appeared in official material. A build is not a shipped game, and any of it can still change.

A focus stat, which fills during physical activities and appears to sit inside a wider RPG-style stat system where practising an activity improves the underlying number. Two cash counters on the HUD at once. A vehicle health bar and a separate fuel gauge. A stamina meter that drains during fights and when forcing a car door.

On the law-enforcement side: a six-star wanted level, ID icons attached to individual police units, and a stealth detection indicator that fills as Jason is spotted.

In the world: two options when stealing a car, "Smash window" and "Clone key". Hats that can be picked up off the ground and worn, the way Red Dead Redemption 2 handled them. Healing items branded "Zombix". An in-game social network called WhatUp! that sends Jason messages. And licensed radio, including "Sports Car" by Tate McRae.

The map, and what is genuinely new on it

The leaked image labels five counties: Lummox, Kelly, Leonard, Vice-Dale and Mariana. That administrative layer is the only genuinely new geography in the leak, and even then only four fifths of it: Vice-Dale had already appeared in official trailer material. Lummox, Kelly, Leonard and Mariana are the four names nobody had seen.

The place names inside those counties were already public. Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park were all named by Rockstar in official press material long before August. Reporting on the leaked map places Leonida Keys and Grassrivers in Mariana County, Vice City in Vice Dale County, Port Gellhorn in Kelly County, Ambrosia in Leonard County and Mount Kalaga in Lummox County.

Separately, reporting on the flyover clip estimates Leonida at roughly two to two and a half times the size of GTA V's map. That is an estimate drawn from flight time in an unfinished build, not a figure anyone has published.

No leaked map has been authenticated by Rockstar, and the studio has not commented on the image.

Is it authentic, and how old is it?

Take-Two has issued DMCA takedown notices against all eight clips, and copies keep being removed on copyright complaint. That is the strongest signal available: a publisher does not file copyright claims over footage of a game it does not own.

Bloomberg's Jason Schreier reported that the leak is genuine and described it as one of the largest in the industry's history, sourced from an unfinished build. The clips also come from a build someone was playing rather than a video someone was handed, which is what the leaker demonstrated by shooting the word "LEEK" into a wall.

On the age of that build, the answer has moved. Schreier's early reporting, and analyst estimates alongside it, placed it at roughly 2022 to 2023; other leakers reading file metadata argued for 2024. Those estimates were made from the first clips, before the later ones were posted. The later clips contain licensed radio, including "Sports Car" by Tate McRae, a track released in January 2025. A build cannot contain a song that did not exist when it was compiled, which puts this one at mid-2025 or later.

That reframes what the leak is. Not a three-year-old curiosity two generations behind the current game, but something close enough to the shipping version that the systems in it are worth taking seriously. It still sits below the finished game, and details in it may still not survive to November.

As of Schreier's reporting, Rockstar had not identified the leaker or established how the breach happened.

What is not confirmed, however often you have read it

An Honor system. This has been reported everywhere as a CyberLeek revelation and it is not confirmed. It is speculated from an icon whose meaning is unclear. What the footage shows is a small marker beneath Jason's on-screen icon that appears to change to a frown after he attacks the delivery driver. Insider Gaming's own wording is that fans "believe it could point towards an Honor System similar to the one featured in Red Dead Redemption 2", and that "exactly what this icon represents is unclear". That is the whole of the evidence.

Anything sourced to a ninth clip, a tenth, or a story spoiler. Eight clips carry a Take-Two copyright claim. Material posted beyond them has no such confirmation behind it, whatever it is captioned.

Most of what is circulating. Fake accounts have posted AI-generated images as new CyberLeek material, and the genuine clips carry a watermark reading "CYBERLEEK DOES NOT HAVE TWITTER", which is the leaker's own way of saying the same thing.

Why this leak is different

Games leak constantly, and almost all of it is screenshots, a build list or a marketing asset a week early. This one is a different category of event, for four reasons worth stating plainly.

The build runs. Whoever has it can play it, and demonstrated as much by shooting the word "LEEK" into a wall on camera. That is not something recoverable from a stolen video file.

It moved the share price. Take-Two shed roughly 2.8 billion dollars in market capitalisation over the period the clips spread, which puts this in a bracket almost no leak reaches.

It is monetised. The videos have carried QR codes and links to a memecoin run by the leaker, and the token spiked while the clips circulated. Any account making money from this material has a direct incentive to have you believe more was leaked than was, which is the single best reason to check what carries a DMCA claim and what does not.

And it is framed as a protest. CYBERLEEK has presented the release as a response to GTA 6 shipping digital-only, and has threatened to follow the gameplay clips with story spoilers.

The pre-orders, and what Rockstar did next

Sensor Tower reported on August 14, 2026 that 89 percent of tracked GTA 6 pre-orders are for the 100 dollar Ultimate Edition: 90 percent on Xbox and 88.5 percent on PlayStation. Premium editions normally take 10 to 20 percent.

The analyst behind the figure does not expect it to hold. Karl Kontus of Sensor Tower has said he has never seen a 90 percent premium share before, that the marketing campaign has barely started, and that he expects the eventual split to land closer to 50/50.

Rockstar did not move the Extended Look. Bloomberg reported that despite the leaks the studio had no plans to shift the August 27 premiere or make any immediate change to its marketing.

What the leaks did not answer

Eight clips of one protagonist moving through a build leave the biggest structural questions exactly where two trailers left them.

Whether you switch between Jason and Lucia freely, as in GTA V, or the game locks you to one of them for stretches. Lucia does not appear in any of the eight clips. Whether there is a property, business or vehicle customisation layer. Whether an antagonist or a law-enforcement character gets named, when across two trailers and a full cast page there has been neither. And whether an online mode exists at all, which Rockstar has not touched.

Our companion piece on the August 27 Extended Look goes through what the presentation is now positioned to clarify, and what the leaks already took off its list.

Our Take

VCL covers only verified information. We recommend avoiding unverified 'leaks' shared without DMCA evidence — most are AI-generated content farms capitalizing on the chaos.

That is the whole editorial rule this page runs on. We do not host, link to or reproduce leaked footage, and we have not described any frame of it beyond what the outlets cited above published. Where something is speculation, the page says so and says whose. Where an estimate has moved, it explains what moved it rather than quietly swapping one number for another.

This page will be updated after the Extended Look with what Rockstar actually showed.
