Both Trailers Are Built Around a Deliberate Needle Drop

Trailer 1 runs on Tom Petty's 'Love Is a Long Road' — a 1991 track whose restless, open-road energy frames Lucia and Jason as people already in motion. Trailer 2 switches to 'Hot Together' by The Pointer Sisters, trading highway momentum for humid, neon-lit intimacy. Rockstar has used licensed music to set a game's emotional register since Vice City in 2002, and the two picks bracket the tone of Leonida: restless escape on one side, sweltering closeness on the other.

Leonida Is a Whole State — Vice City Is Just One Piece

The game is set in the state of Leonida, not just its neon capital. Rockstar has named Vice City itself, the Leonida Keys, the wetlands of Grassrivers, the faded panhandle town of Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga National Park. That spread — dense city, island chain, swamp, small town and protected wilderness — points to the most environmentally varied map in the series, and it means a large share of the game happens well outside the skyline everyone fixates on.

The Story Opens on Lucia at a Parole Hearing

The very first thing Rockstar showed of GTA 6 was Lucia Caminos inside a correctional facility, with a voice off-camera telling her that her bad luck ‘was a parole hearing.’ Starting a protagonist on the way out of prison rather than at the bottom of a criminal ladder is a real structural departure — Lucia arrives with a record, a past, and conditions attached, and that framing sets up everything that follows with Jason.

The Alligator in the Convenience Store

One of Trailer 1's quickest cuts shows an alligator strolling through a convenience store while a shopper films it. It reads as absurd, but it is a direct nod to a genre of real Florida news footage that fuels the whole 'Florida Man' internet ecosystem. It signals how GTA 6 sources its satire: less invented parody, more the actual social-media reality of the state Leonida is modelled on.
